First Step is a healthy family resource center serving Wood, Wyandot, Seneca, and Sandusky counties in Northwest Ohio. Since 1980, First Step has provided shelter and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence. The first domestic violence shelter built in the state of Ohio from the ground up 4th in the nation.
Continually evolving to meet the needs of the community, First Step now provides a wide range of additional services to include outreach programs like Passages, 24/7 Dad, and Operation Star-shine all of which serve to empower individuals and families to make healthy relationship choices. Community programs like our Women’s Enrichment Series, Bread and Bagel day “the ripple”, winter coat give away and most recently our Dad and Daughter tool box build serve to build a healthy community through participation.
