Visitor’s Bureau 2019 Year in Review Video
The Fostoria Area Visitors Bureau was instrumental in bringing larger and bolder artwork to Fostoria in 2019 as a tool for community beautification and a catalyst for downtown revitalization.
We often don’t know the impact our efforts will have on future initiatives. Hosting two barn quilt painting workshops with national expert Suzi Parron in 2018 led to the start of two related cottage businesses locally, which then led to “The Barn Quilts on Main” community project in 2019. This simple idea of making Fostoria a unique stop on the national barn quilt trail continues to create multiple opportunities that show no sign of slowing down!
In terms of sculptures, the city of Fostoria received a grant to purchase the “Creatures of the Sky Arch”, giving us another permanent sculpture in our downtown. Support has been strong as we enter into our third year as a host community for a Midwest Sculpture Initiative outdoor exhibit, as we again will add eight uniquely colorful and interactive sculptures in our downtown corridor in 2020.
This revitalization trend is still building momentum as there are several projects planned for 2020 that will be uniquely colorful in nature as well! We’re looking forward to providing an update on our progress next year!
